Culinary Triumph: Saudi Student Claims Top Honors In Prestigious US University Cooking Contest
Category: International

Hudhayfah Al-Hamawi, a Saudi student, clinches the coveted first place in an international culinary showdown hosted by the University of North Alabama in the United States. This victory not only showcases Al-Hamawi's culinary prowess but also brings a flavorful addition to the university's curriculum.

Thanks to Al-Hamawi's persuasive skills, the university has now incorporated iconic Saudi dishes, Kabsa and Moussaka, into its culinary program. His dedication to introducing Saudi food culture in the United States is evident as he successfully convinced the department to include these dishes in the international cuisine subject.

Currently pursuing advanced studies under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Foreign Scholarship Program at the University of North Alabama, Al-Hamawi's triumph in the three-month-long culinary competition involved participants from 12 different nationalities.

As a standout student in the modern specialization of culinary arts aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, Al-Hamawi acknowledges the pivotal role played by the Saudi cultural attaché in Washington. This support facilitated his entry into the culinary arts program, despite his initial graduation from the Technical College in the Makkah region, specializing in tourism and hospitality.

Al-Hamawi's culinary journey began with significant experiences in hotels near the Grand Mosque in Makkah, and his commitment to culinary excellence was further honed through a training program at King Abdullah Economic City. This initiative, backed by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the Emir of Makkah and advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, saw Al-Hamawi emerge among the top 10 participants.
