There have been joint initiatives launched by the tourism ministers of Saudi Arabia and Oman aimed at attracting tourists to both countries. A joint tourist visa is also being discussed.
Salem Al Mahrooqi, the Omani counterpart of Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmad Al Khatib, held talks in Muscat on promoting tourism in both countries.

Oman and Saudi Arabia are members of the GCC, which also consists of Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman visited the kingdom for the first time in over a decade in July 2021. During the visit, the two countries signed a pact, establishing a joint council to coordinate stances in all fields.
Sultan Haitham's first overseas trip since assuming power was marked by the visit.
In December 2021, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman visited Oman.
