It is illegal for children below the age of 10 to sit in the front seat of a vehicle in Saudi Arabia, according to the General Directorate of Traffic (Moroor).
According to Saudi Moroor, parents should not allow their children to ride in the front seat because the back seat is designated for children under 10 years of age.
According to the Moroor in Saudi Arabia's official Twitter handle, "children under the age of 10 are at risk of death when seated in the front seat, so it is necessary to designate a seat for them in the back seats, with the obligation to fasten a seat belt".
The Saudi Traffic Department explained earlier this month that students sitting in their assigned seats on school buses increases their safety and reduces traffic accidents.
Students traveling in school buses should follow these Saudi Moroor instructions:
- Saudi Moroor gave several tips for students while traveling on the school bus including,
* Fastening the seat belt.
* Stick to sitting in the designated seat and
* Not to take hand out of the window.
- The Saudi Traffic also said not to rush to board school bus unless it is completely stopped and make sure that road is clear of vehicles before crossing it.
Saudi Arabian traffic laws prohibit passing school buses while they are loading or unloading:
In addition, Saudi Moroor clarified that crossing a school bus when it is loading or unloading students is a traffic violation.
During Traffic's ongoing field campaigns in various parts of the Kingdom, over 671 motorbikes were seized for violating traffic laws.
