Thirty-six individuals were hospitalized in Saudi Arabia's Abu Arish governorate, Jizan Province, due to suspected food poisoning, as reported by Saudi media.

The incidents occurred on Wednesday after the victims dined at a local fast-food restaurant, according to the Saudi news portal Ajel. Medical teams have undertaken appropriate measures to treat the victims and monitor their health conditions. There has been no immediate comment from authorities regarding the incident.

In a similar incident in late April, 75 people were hospitalized due to food poisoning at a restaurant in Riyadh, resulting in one death. The affected individuals included 69 Saudi citizens and six expatriates, as reported by health authorities.

On April 25, Riyadh authorities identified several food poisoning cases linked to a restaurant. An epidemiological investigation revealed that meals served by the establishment caused the poisoning. Consequently, the Riyadh mayoralty shut down the restaurant's main supply facility and all its branches in Riyadh and Al Kharj.

In response to the Riyadh incident, authorities have tightened hygiene regulations for food-serving establishments. New instructions include prohibiting female workers in restaurants and food stores from wearing false nails, eyelashes, and nail polishes to prevent food contamination.

The Saudi Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing has also banned the use of perfumes and after-shave products near exposed foodstuffs like meat and dairy to avoid contamination. Additionally, wearing loose jewelry, earrings, or wristwatches is prohibited, as these items can harbor bacteria and dirt. However, one-piece circular earrings and non-chiseled rings are permitted.
