A total of 16,790 people were arrested for violations related to residency, labor laws, and border security in various regions of the Kingdom by Saudi Arabian security forces.
According to the Interior Ministry, the arrests were made during an intensive campaign from October 5 to 11.
Among those arrested were 10,177 individuals who violated residency rules, 4,523 violators of border security rules, and 2,090 violators of labour laws.
In addition, 709 people were arrested while attempting to enter the kingdom; of those, 63 percent were Yemenis, 34 percent Ethiopians, and 3 percent belonged to other nationalities.
86 individuals were caught trying to illegally leave Saudi Arabia.
The authorities also detained 19 individuals involved in the transportation, sheltering, and covering up of those breaking residency and work regulations.
Currently, legal proceedings are being pursued against 45,724 violators, 38,040 of whom are men and 7,684 of whom are women.
39,941 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents as part of the process to address these violations.
1,750 were directed to finalize their travel arrangements, and 8,745 were deported.
There has been a warning from the Ministry of Interior against assisting infiltrators, warning anyone found providing entry, transportation, shelter, or any form of assistance to such people will face harsh penalties.
A prison term of up to 15 years, a fine up to SR1 million, and the confiscation of used means of transportation and accommodation are some of the penalties.
