In April, Saudi authorities arrested 117 individuals suspected of involvement in commercial cover-up (tasattur) crimes across various regions of the Kingdom. The suspects have been referred to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
Inspectors from the National Program to Combat Commercial Concealment, under the Ministry of Commerce, conducted 6,663 inspection tours targeting restaurants, car service and repair shops, catering services, men’s salons, and general contracting and construction offices. These inspections were prompted by indications of illegal cover-up activities.
Inspection Tours: 6,663 inspections were carried out, uncovering 117 cases of suspected commercial cover-up.
Legal Procedures: Suspects have been referred to competent authorities for verification and legal action.
Penalties Under Anti-Concealment Law: Violators face up to five years imprisonment, fines up to SR5 million, and confiscation of illegal proceeds. Additional penalties include business closure, liquidation of activities, commercial register write-off, and deportation of non-Saudi offenders.
The Saudi government remains committed to enforcing the Anti-Concealment Law to ensure fair commercial practices and protect the integrity of the Kingdom’s economy.
