Learn about the latest advancements and services introduced in Hajj 2023, designed to enhance the experience for pilgrims. Saudi Arabia has implemented various innovations, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and ensuring ease and comfort during this sacred journey.

Lifting of COVID-19 Restrictions:
After three years of imposed restrictions, the eagerly anticipated announcement came from Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, confirming that Hajj 2023 would be free from any conditions or limitations. Saudi Arabia is now ready to welcome pilgrims in the same numbers as before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Increased Pilgrim Numbers:
With the lifting of restrictions, Saudi Arabia expects to receive over 2 million Hajj pilgrims from 160 countries. Additionally, the number of Umrah performers has witnessed a significant increase of 30% compared to 1440 AH, providing more opportunities for spiritual fulfillment.

Flexible Pilgrimage Services:
Hajj missions worldwide now have the flexibility to make contracts with authorized companies of their choice, offering enhanced pilgrimage services in Saudi Arabia. This change allows for greater customization and convenience for pilgrims.

Reduced Insurance Costs:
This year, the cost of insurance for Hajj pilgrims has decreased by an impressive 73%. The price of insurance for Hajj pilgrims has been reduced from SR109 to SR29, while Umrah insurance dropped from SR235 to SR88, making the journey more affordable and accessible.

Easy Payment Options:
To facilitate the pilgrimage experience, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah introduced a new payment scheme for domestic pilgrims. Instead of paying the full amount at once, pilgrims can now opt to pay in three installments, providing greater flexibility and financial ease.

Expanded Makkah Route Initiative:
The Makkah Route Initiative, an Interior Ministry project, has expanded its services to countries such as Turkey and Ivory Coast. This initiative aids pilgrims in completing immigration procedures from their countries of origin smoothly. It now operates in seven countries, including Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Ivory Coast.

Enhanced Workforce and Training:
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has assembled its largest and most qualified workforce to serve pilgrims during Hajj 2023. With a total of 14,000 fully trained male and female employees, the services provided will ensure a seamless and enriching experience for all pilgrims.

Strengthened Prosecution and Protection of Rights:
The establishment of the Hajj and Umrah Prosecution next to the Grand Mosque in Makkah demonstrates Saudi Arabia's commitment to protecting the rights of pilgrims and safeguarding religious sanctities. The Attorney General and Chairman of the Public Prosecution Council, Sheikh Saud Bin Abdullah Al-Mujab, emphasized the importance of promptly closing criminal cases and imposing severe penalties for crimes related to the exploitation of religious rites and holy sites.

Environmental Compliance and Monitoring:
The National Center for Environmental Compliance has taken comprehensive measures to ensure the quality of air, soil, and water for pilgrims in Makkah, the holy sites, Madinah, airports, and highways. Through 1,350 inspection visits, air quality, water sources, and soil are monitored to prevent pollution and maintain a pristine environment.

Improved Transportation Options:
Hajj pilgrims will enjoy enhanced transportation options within the holy sites. The Transport General Authority (TGA) has introduced 1,000 electric scooters dedicated to facilitating pilgrims' movement. A specific track has been allocated for the e-scooters, ensuring the safety of pilgrims.
