In a significant development, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Skill, disclosed in the Lok Sabha that an impressive 14,000 Indians, trained at the Skill India International Centres (SIIC), have successfully secured lucrative employment in Saudi Arabia from April 2022 to December 2023.
This announcement on Monday showcased a remarkable trend, with every second candidate trained under SIIC securing job opportunities abroad during the specified period. Saudi Arabia, standing out as the premier choice for skilled Indian professionals, witnessed 13,944 individuals securing desirable positions. Trailing behind were Qatar (3,646), the United Arab Emirates (2,832), and the United Kingdom (1,248), contributing to a total of 25,300 candidates gaining overseas employment.
Minister Chandrasekhar also emphasized the ministry's proactive approach in fostering international collaborations. He highlighted the existence of government-to-government memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with eight countries, including Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Qatar, the UAE, and the UK.
