End of Service Benefits (ESB) for Domestic Workers
The Musaned platform in Saudi Arabia has clarified the conditions under which domestic workers are entitled to end-of-service benefits. According to Musaned, a domestic worker is eligible for an end-of-service gratuity equivalent to one month’s salary if they have served their employer for four consecutive years.
Domestic Workers Insurance in Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Human Resources has initiated a mandatory insurance service for domestic workers, starting from February 2024. This insurance aims to protect the rights of all parties in the labor relationship and is required for the first two years of a domestic worker’s contract. After this period, it becomes optional for employers.
Musaned stated that the insurance policy is activated automatically upon the arrival of the domestic worker. Compensation for claims within the first 90 days is processed through the recruitment office. The insurance policy is valid for two years from the date of the worker’s arrival in Saudi Arabia and activation of the policy.
How to Insure Domestic Workers
Musaned has outlined the procedure for issuing an insurance document through the following steps on the Musaned platform:
1. Select the employee’s CV.
2. The employer will be redirected to the Najm portal to choose an appropriate insurance company.
3. Return to the Musaned platform to complete the contracting and payment process.
4. The recruitment office must pay the insurance amount to the insurance company within 15 days of the employer’s payment.
5. The insurance company issues the insurance policy.
6. The insurance document is automatically activated upon the domestic worker’s arrival in Saudi Arabia.
According to Musaned, the insurance document is issued directly after payment is received, within a period not exceeding 15 days.
