According to the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC), no circulars have been issued regarding the opening of restaurants during daytime during the holy month of Ramadan.
On Wednesday, the federation said it publishes circulars and news bulletins on its website and official social media accounts to prevent rumors and unfounded reports from spreading.
In response, the federation, which groups 28 chambers of commerce and industry in the Kingdom, dismissed the circular as fabrication.
According to the federation, a letter circulated in various outlets of media and social networking sites stating that it was decided to allow local and international restaurants in Saudi Arabia to operate and serve food during the daytime during Ramadan. In the letter, it is suggested that eateries install curtains or cover their facades to serve food during the day hours in respect of the fasting public.
In the purported circular, it was also stated that the directive would come into force on the first day of Ramadan without any prior permission from the competent authorities. According to the document, the procedure used was in line with the usual practices used in various countries around the world in this regard.
