Category: Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia's Public Prosecution warned against trafficking in persons, calling it a serious crime that requires arrest.

In its infographic, the Public Prosecution said that it is not permitted to trade anyone in any way by using, attaching, transporting, harboring or receiving them for the purposes of abuse. In this case, the penalty is imprisonment for 15 years and a fine of one million Saudi riyals.

- The Public Prosecution's office presented provisions from the anti-trafficking law to the effect that using, attaching, transferring, harboring, or receiving a person for the purpose of abuse constitutes trafficking in persons.

Border-cross crimes are considered to be transnational if they are committed in more than one country, or if they are committed in one country, but a large portion of the preparation, directing, or supervision took place in another country, or if it is committed in one country, but an organized criminal group is involved in committing that engages in criminal activity in another country, or if it is committed in one country but has severe effects elsewhere.

According to the Public Prosecution, an organized criminal group is any group of two or more individuals that has committed an act of trafficking in persons in order to receive, directly or indirectly, a material, financial, or other benefit.
