In a significant move, Saudi Arabia's Real Estate General Authority is set to exclusively channel residential rent payments through the Ejar platform, effective January 15.

Approved digital payment channels by Ejar include Mada or SADAD, with the designated biller number being 153. Ejar, in alignment with a Council of Ministers' decision, underscores the importance of this transition to enhance the efficiency and transparency of rent transactions.

Beginning this week, the authority will gradually cease the issuance of electronic receipt vouchers for new residential contracts. Instead, payments made through approved digital channels will be automatically settled, eliminating the need for a separate receipt voucher. This measure is part of the Cabinet's decision to facilitate electronic payment services for rent contracts.

To facilitate this process, the authority emphasizes the initiation of the digital payment journey by documenting the rental contract on Ejar. This can be done through a licensed real estate broker authorized by the authority. Following contract documentation, both landlords and tenants can seamlessly use the designated digital payment channels for transactional processes. Landlords can expect the rental payment to be credited to their registered bank account within five working days.

Ejar has highlighted the numerous advantages of digital payment adoption, with a key focus on safeguarding the rights of both landlords and tenants involved in the rental contract. This transition not only streamlines the payment process but also ensures a more secure and transparent framework for residential rent transactions in Saudi Arabia.
