In the southern Asir region of Saudi Arabia, heavy rains have caused flash floods, trapping seven people in their cars. Thanks to the efforts of the Saudi Civil Defence Forces, the individuals were rescued, but now face a hefty fine of SR10,000 for violating traffic regulations related to crossing flooded areas or valleys.
As the heavy rainfall continues, the Civil Defence is warning the public to exercise caution and avoid approaching water pools and crossing valleys during flash floods. The dangers of such activities are illustrated in an infographic posted on the Civil Defence's Twitter account, with violators facing fines of up to SR10,000.
The National Centre of Meteorology has also urged people to stay safe and follow safety guidelines during the ongoing heavy rainfall. Students are advised to follow the Madrasati electronic platform, as many educational institutions have suspended in-person classes in several areas of the Kingdom, including Asir, Muhayil Asir, Sarat Ubaida, Bisha, Al Namas, Rijal Almaa, Dhahran, Ad Dilam, and Al Kharj.
To avoid tragic accidents, the public is advised to refrain from swimming in torrential streams, valleys, and water swamps during rainfall. As a result of the bad weather conditions, it is crucial to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines.
