Saudi Arabia is now experiencing snow season. As of Tuesday morning, the mountains of Al-Lawz area in Tabuk region were covered in snow, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The snow-covered areas became a tourist attraction for Tabuk residents and visitors who came from various regions to enjoy the snow and its beauty.
According to Alenizi, the head of the National Center of Meteorology in the Northern Region, snowfall in the Northern Region of Saudi Arabia, especially the Al-Lawz Mountains and adjacent regions, is influenced by two main factors.
The first factor is the depth and movement of the polar depression, as it often touches the northwestern areas of Alkan and Al-Lawz Mountains. The depression may deepen further south and affect the Hasmi mountains west of Tabuk. The Harrah Mountains lie south of Tabuk, where its impact is rare."
As polar depressions are accompanied by a drop in the tropopause level, the level of the atmospheric layer falls as well. Among the lines weather enthusiasts look for are the 540 line in the 500 mb layer and the 130 line in the 850 mb layer.
Several factors indicate the likelihood of snowfall on the surface of the Earth, including lines drawn on weather maps that indicate how deep a depression will be based on the layer's height. According to him, precipitation is determined by the zero Celsius temperature at any level.
