The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) in Saudi Arabia has recently penalized 568 cases of domestic worker regulation violations, signaling a strong stance on ensuring compliance with labor laws.
Overview of Penalties and Violations
As per current legislation, MHRSD imposed recruitment bans in 281 cases and issued monetary fines in 287 cases for various violations involving domestic workers.
Violations by Employers
Officials noted that some employers permitted their domestic workers to take on additional work for other companies or to work independently, which is against the law. The ministry has urged the Domestic Workers Committees to take appropriate actions against these employers.
Cautionary Measures for Nationals and Expats
To prevent penalties, the ministry advised both nationals and expatriates to be cautious when employing or interacting with workers, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Reporting Violations
The authorities encourage the public to report any violations of the Labor Law. Reports can be submitted through the MHRSD mobile app or by contacting the unified hotline 19911.
