The Transport General Authority (TGA) has announced the implementation of an automated surveillance system for tracking traffic violations committed by trucks and buses. This new initiative will be effective from April 21 and will cover various regions across the Kingdom.

The surveillance will target trucks and buses involved in cargo transportation, truck rental, international transport buses, and bus rental. The primary objective is to bolster traffic safety and increase compliance rates with regulations and technical standards set by the authority. This move aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of services, ensuring regularity while also contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions. Such efforts align with the goals outlined in the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, fostering growth and sustainability in the public transportation and logistics sector within the Kingdom.

Specifically, the TGA has identified violations that will be automatically monitored starting April 21. These include operating a truck or bus without the required operating card, operating with an expired card, and reaching the end of a bus's operational life.

The authority underscores that this automated monitoring system, developed in collaboration with the advanced traffic safety project, aligns with the TGA's directive to organize and prepare transportation activities and advance towards the digital transformation project—a key strategic goal for the authority.

Automated surveillance represents a crucial regulatory project utilizing the latest technologies to enhance the transportation system, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 for an improved quality of life in all cities.
