In a move to boost employment opportunities for Saudi citizens, the Saudi government is actively pursuing a Saudisation initiative targeting the creation of 23,000 jobs within the promising transport and logistics sector. Assistant Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Ahmed Al Hassan, revealed that the initiative aims to localise 10,000 jobs in heavy transport, 3,000 in passenger transportation, and another 10,000 in the air transport sector, covering a total of 28 different professions.
Highlighting the commitment to empowering the youth, Al Hassan discussed the role of the Saudi Logistics Academy, launched in 2021, in grooming young Saudis for the logistics sector. The academy, having recently graduated 450 trainees, is a key player in the kingdom's vision to become a global logistics hub.
The broader context of Saudi Arabia's Saudisation efforts includes recent initiatives across various sectors, such as sales, purchases, project management, and even professions like dentistry. The Ministry of Human Resources is actively overseeing Saudisation measures, offering incentives and support programs to encourage private sector institutions to employ Saudis.
