Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Meteorology has issued a weather alert forecasting extreme heat, dusty winds, and thunderstorms across various parts of the country, including the Eastern Region, Riyadh, Mecca, Medina, and the Northern Borders. Residents are urged to stay vigilant as temperatures soar and visibility drops due to dust storms and sudden thunderstorms.
Blistering Heat to Sweep Key Regions
According to meteorologists, hot to extremely hot temperatures are expected throughout this week in the Eastern Region, Riyadh, Mecca, Medina, and Northern Borders. Citizens and residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially during peak sunlight hours.
Dust Storms to Impact Visibility
Strong, dust-stirring winds will affect several regions, including Al Jouf, Tabuk, and Hail, potentially reducing visibility and creating hazardous driving conditions. These winds may also trigger allergic reactions and respiratory issues for sensitive individuals.
Thunderstorms with Gusty Winds Expected
Southwestern highlands are forecast to experience thunderstorms with gusty winds, increasing the likelihood of flash floods and localised hazards. Sudden weather changes could disrupt travel and outdoor plans in these areas.
Maritime Weather Forecast
Red Sea Conditions
Northwesterly to westerly winds ranging from 20 to 40 km/h will sweep the Red Sea, with waves reaching up to two meters. Despite the wind speed, the sea will remain relatively calm overall.
Arabian Gulf Conditions
In the Arabian Gulf, northwesterly to westerly winds will range between 15 to 35 km/h, with wave heights varying from 0.5 to 1.5 meters. Mariners should exercise caution.
Stay Informed and Prepared
The public is advised to follow safety guidelines and stay tuned to official updates from the National Centre for Meteorology and local authorities.
