The Saudi Ministry of Health has imposed fines on three airlines for violating health monitoring standards at Madinah’s Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport. The violations occurred when the airlines failed to comply with health regulations upon arrival from disease-affected regions.

The fines were issued in accordance with the Health Surveillance Law at Entry Points, ensuring the public’s health safety by managing disease vectors. The Ministry stated that these airlines did not adhere to the required procedures, such as spraying aircraft with pesticides to prevent the spread of diseases from affected areas.

The Ministry emphasized that this non-compliance poses a serious health risk, especially as the airlines were transporting passengers from regions known for infectious diseases. The penalties align with the executive regulations of the Health Surveillance Law and are intended to prevent future violations.

Public Health Risks from Affected Regions

This action is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance health surveillance at entry points like airports and border crossings. The Ministry stressed that these steps are crucial to protecting public health and ensuring the well-being of all residents, expatriates, and visitors in Saudi Arabia.

Fines and Future Compliance

To prevent future breaches, the airlines have been fined for failing to follow disease vector management protocols. The Ministry reiterated that maintaining public health safety is its top priority, and any breach of health surveillance standards will be met with appropriate penalties.
