A long weekend is in store for Saudi nationals and resident expatriates this month in celebration of Saudi National Day, which is being celebrated for the 94th year in a row.
Observed every year on September 23 as a public holiday for both private and public sector employees, this occasion pays tribute to King Abdulaziz's decree in 1932 that united the Kingdoms of Najd (the Central Region) and Hijaz (the West Coast and other regions).
Due to the long weekend in the Kingdom, with Friday and Saturday as usual holidays, some workers will enjoy an additional day off on Sunday, September 22, alongside the Monday holiday of September 23, when the main event will take place. This results in a 4-day holiday for some resident expats and Saudi citizens.
The academic calendar of the Ministry of Education also grants students a day off on Sunday, September 22, to celebrate the 94th Saudi National Day on September 23, 2024.
The Path to Transformation for the Kingdom
Residents and citizens of the Kingdom are expected to flock to the streets for a variety of celebrations, including performances, traditional activities, parades with flags, and air force exhibitions.
The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) revealed the event's theme last month. The "We Dream, We Achieve" slogan, which was used last year, is being carried over this year to highlight the Kingdom's transformational path and the major projects it is executing as part of Saudi Vision 2030.
The design showcases a number of concepts, including THE LINE, Sindalah, and the Electric Car (CEER) Project.
