Saudi Arabia has introduced a new initiative to license volunteer work, aimed at qualifying volunteers, enhancing their skills, and enabling them to serve within a safe and organized framework. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to empower the non-profit sector and support pilgrims effectively.
Organizing Volunteer Work Through Licensing
The newly launched volunteer license initiative is a core part of the national strategy to structure and empower volunteerism, especially in the service of pilgrims visiting the Kingdom. By ensuring volunteers are trained and licensed, Saudi Arabia aims to enhance the quality and safety of volunteer efforts during religious seasons and beyond.
Launch of the Non-Profit Work Observatory Foundation
At the opening of the third edition of the International Non-Profit Sector Exhibition 2025 (IENA), the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi, announced the establishment of the Non-Profit Work Observatory Foundation. The foundation is tasked with monitoring the sector, collecting and analyzing data, and conducting in-depth studies to address the challenges facing non-profit organizations.
Enhancing Support for Pilgrims
This initiative is particularly significant for the non-profit organizations that support pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah. By analyzing real-time data and identifying obstacles, the Observatory can help streamline operations and improve volunteer readiness for future pilgrimages.
International Non-Profit Sector Exhibition 2025 (IENA)
The IENA Exhibition serves as a vital platform connecting the non-profit sector with public and private entities, as well as international institutions. The event features a social investment forum and a Gulf forum to foster cooperation and share innovations in the non-profit space.
Strategic Role in Vision 2030
The exhibition underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable development by recognizing the non-profit sector as a strategic pillar in Vision 2030. Saudi Arabia aims to increase the number of non-profit organizations and boost their contribution to the gross domestic product by 5% by 2030.
Empowering Human Capabilities and Social Goals
Empowering volunteers through licensing and integrating data-driven strategies strengthens the sector’s impact on social development. The Kingdom continues to invest in human capabilities and encourage social responsibility by enabling structured and meaningful volunteer work.
