In a groundbreaking move, the Saudi Public Prosecution has unveiled robust penalties, including fines of up to 350,000 riyals and potential imprisonment, for individuals found guilty of mistreating or mocking people of determination. This initiative underscores the gravity of offenses against persons with disabilities and aims to create a more inclusive and respectful society.

The Saudi Public Prosecution, through its official account on the 'X' platform, has outlined the severe repercussions awaiting those who engage in acts such as neglect, abuse, mockery, rights deprivation, or exploitation of people of determination. Offenders may be subjected to a maximum prison sentence of one year or a hefty fine, reaching up to SR350,000, highlighting the government's commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals.

Enforcement Campaign and Traffic Violations:

In a parallel enforcement effort, the General Directorate of Traffic has taken decisive action by seizing 62,540 vehicles across the Kingdom from May to November 2022. These vehicles were found unlawfully parked in spaces designated for people of determination, averaging 286 violations per day and 8,600 per month. This robust campaign serves as part of a broader strategy to uphold the rights of people of determination in public spaces.

Impact of the Campaign:

The initial phase of the campaign, spanning May to July 2022, resulted in the seizure of 24,954 vehicles. Subsequently, the enforcement drive intensified, leading to the confiscation of an additional 37,586 violating vehicles from August to November 2022. This cumulative effort over the seven-month period demonstrates a significant impact on curbing violations and promoting a more accessible environment for people of determination.
