In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia plans to build the world's largest modern downtown.

The New Murabba Development Company (NMDC) was launched by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman, who is also the Chairman of the NMDC.

In the New Murabba project, green areas and walking and cycling paths will enhance the quality of life by promoting healthy, active lifestyles and community activities. There will also be an iconic museum, a technology and design university, an immersive theater, and more than 80 entertainment and cultural venues.

Located at the intersection of King Salman and King Khalid roads to the north west of Riyadh, the project will accommodate hundreds of thousands of people. The project will offer more than 25 million sqm of floor area, including 104,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, and more than 980,000 sqm of retail space. There will also be 1.4 million square feet of office space, 620,000 square feet of leisure assets, and 1.8 million square feet of community space.

It will offer a unique living, working, and entertainment experience within a 15-minute walking radius, as well as its own internal transportation system. From the airport, it will take approximately 20 minutes to get there.

The NMDC will develop the project and build the "Mukaab", a landmark featuring the latest innovative technologies. With a height of 400 meters, a width of 400 meters, and a length of 400 meters, the "Mukaab" will be one of the largest structures in the world. As a result of its cubic shape, the "Mukaab" will be able to accommodate the technologies required to create the icon in the most efficient manner.

Using the latest holographic technology, the "Mukaab" is the world's first immersive destination inspired by modern Najdi architecture. “Mukaab” will encompass a tower atop a spiral base, and a structure with 2 million square meters of floor space, serving as a premium hospitality destination with a variety of retail, cultural and tourist attractions, as well as residential and hotel units, commercial spaces, and recreational facilities.

NMDC is part of PIF's strategy to unlock the potential of promising sectors, enable the private sector and increase local content, contribute to the development of real estate projects and local infrastructure, and diversify the Saudi economy's sources of income. By 2030, it is expected to contribute SR180 billion to non-oil GDP and create 334,000 direct and indirect jobs
