Category: Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Cabinet reviewed the country's security and foreign policies at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Tuesday, aiming to enhance peace and stability.

In the session chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Cabinet was briefed on two messages received by King Salman and the crown prince from the presidents of the UAE and Djibouti.

Additionally, the ministers were briefed on the meeting between Crown Prince Mohammed and Egypt's president, in which discussions were held about developing closer ties.

Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari, Minister of Media, told the Saudi Press Agency that the foreign policy discussions focused on maintaining peace and stability in the region and globally in partnership with friendly nations.

Additionally, the Cabinet emphasized the Saudi Arabia-UK security agreements.

In domestic affairs, Al-Dosari reported that the Kingdom's unemployment rate fell from 9.9 percent in the third quarter of 2022 to 8 percent in the fourth.

In comparison to the rest of the world, Saudi Arabia's remarkable economic growth can be attributed to its legislative reforms and other reforms under Saudi Vision 2030.

In addition to approving a cooperation agreement between the Kingdom and Greece on crime, the Cabinet also authorized the Foreign Ministry to draft a political memorandum of understanding with Sri Lanka.

In addition, the minister of foreign affairs was authorized to discuss a headquarters agreement with the UN Human Settlements Programme.

The Cabinet also approved a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Culture and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization.

To enhance cooperation in the financial services and public finance sectors, the Kingdom's Finance Ministry and the treasuries of Britain and Northern Ireland signed a memorandum of understanding.

In addition, memoranda of cooperation were approved with South Africa on social development, with China on direct investment, and with Oman on money laundering and terrorism.

Moreover, an education agreement with German company Merck was approved for Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.

The Cabinet approved the appointment of Eng. Abdurrahman bin Saleh Al-Faqih, a representative of the private sector, who is not an investor in the ports sector, as a member of the board of directors of the Saudi Ports Authority.

There were also approvals of the organizational structure and manual for the Ministry of Tourism; the General Authority for Competition's two final accounts; and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority's accounts.

Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed the annual reports of the Saudi Export Development Authority, the National Industrial Development Center, and the Prince Sultan Defense Studies & Research Center.
