The Philippine government is currently striving to persuade its citizens working in Saudi Arabia to return home by providing them with opportunities to work there or in other countries, the News Network reported Sunday.
The report added that the Ministry of Labor and Service has set up a special task force under Undersecretary Claro Arilano to prepare data including qualifications of all Filipino workers in the Kingdom.
The action team appealed to all companies in Philippines to participate in a job fair for those returning from Saudi Arabia. The ministry had said in an earlier statement that Qatar, which is facing a Gulf boycott, laid off 18,000 Filipino workers.
