Saudi Arabian education authorities are cracking down on the practice of accommodating workers in schools, as reported by local media.

The Education Department in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, has issued a circular warning schools to strictly adhere to the ban on using school premises as lodging for workers, according to the Saudi news website Akhbar24.

Any failure to comply with this directive will be regarded as a "violation," as emphasized in the circular, which highlights the importance of following the guidelines regarding the housing of school guards.

The report reveals that the circular cites "observations and violations" related to the inappropriate use of school guards' accommodations for other school staff.

In the previous year, the Saudi Ministry of Education established specific criteria for hiring school guards. These criteria mandate that applicants for the position must be Saudi nationals, possess a secondary school certificate or higher education, be no younger than 35 years of age (for females) or 25 years (for males), exhibit good behavior, and have no prior convictions for dishonesty or breaches of trust, nor have been dismissed from a government job.

On August 20, over 6 million students in Saudi Arabia returned to their schools following the conclusion of the summer break.

The Saudi Arabian school year consists of three semesters spread across 38 weeks, with 60-day breaks between them, in addition to a 68-day summer holiday.

As per the official schedule, the first semester extends until November 16, followed by the commencement of the second semester 10 days later, running until February 22. The third semester is scheduled to begin on March 3 and conclude on June 10.
