New Clarification On Canceling The Absent From Work (Huroob) Report By Saudi Ministry Of Labor
Category: Expats

In response to public inquiries, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has provided clarification on the cancellation of the "Absent From Work" (Huroob) report. Many workers and employers are curious if there has been any decision to cancel such reports.

Saudi Ministry Clarifies Huroob Report Cancellation Process

The Ministry confirmed that once a report of a worker's absence is filed, the worker is given a 60-day period to take action. This clarification comes in response to growing concerns from expatriate workers and employers alike.

60-Day Period to Resolve Work Status After Absent From Work Report

After the Huroob report is submitted, the worker has 60 days to either transfer their job service to another employer or leave Saudi Arabia permanently. This grace period gives the worker time to make decisions about their future employment or departure.

Consequences of Exceeding the Deadline for Huroob Report

If the 60-day grace period expires without action, the worker's status changes to "Absent From Work," and the Huroob report cannot be canceled. This makes it imperative for workers to act quickly to avoid severe legal and professional consequences.

Is Companion or Dependent Leave Available Under Saudi Labor Law?

The Ministry also addressed queries regarding companion or dependent leave. According to Saudi Labor Law, there is no provision for this type of leave. However, it may be granted based on internal company agreements or mutual understanding between the worker and the employer.

Employer and Worker Agreements on Companion Leave

Personal or family-related leave requests, such as caring for a sick family member, are subject to company policy. Workers must negotiate directly with their employers since this type of leave is not governed by labor law.
