The Ministry of Health (MoH) has issued a warning to Hajj pilgrims about the potential dangers of extreme surface temperatures at the Holy Sites, which could reach up to 72 degrees Celsius in some mountainous regions.
The MoH highlighted that prolonged exposure to sunlight poses a significant health risk, emphasizing that this year’s Hajj season coincides with high temperatures in Makkah, presenting a major challenge for pilgrims.
The ministry strongly advises pilgrims to use umbrellas to shield themselves from direct sunlight and to drink plenty of water throughout the day, regardless of thirst. Additionally, pilgrims are urged to follow all health guidelines and avoid direct sun exposure or contact with hot surfaces, especially during peak hours from 11 am to 3 pm.
