Local authorities in Jeddah have intercepted 300 kilograms of rotten meat intended for delivery to a restaurant.

The Jeddah municipality reported that the spoiled meat was found in a truck heading to a local restaurant. The foul smell alerted officials, leading to an inspection that revealed the cargo was unfit for human consumption.

“Monitoring teams, in cooperation with competent agencies, managed to seize the vehicle transporting the rotten meat to restaurants,” said Heba Hussain, head of the Azaziah Municipal Branch. The meat was haphazardly packed in small containers without adhering to hygienic standards and was subsequently destroyed.

Last month, Jeddah authorities thwarted attempts to smuggle large quantities of unfit sacrificial meat during Eid Al Adha. They uncovered 1,243 sacrificial animals' rotten meat at five checkpoints and impounded 109 vehicles involved in illegal and unhealthy meat transportation.
