Category: Saudi Arabia

Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) conducted more than 8,000 inspections of markets and shops in May, in which it recorded 80% compliance with tax regulations.

Although ZATCA reported that 20% of shops and markets were not compliant with tax regulations, which was represented in not issuing e-tax invoices or including the QR code in the invoice, as well as controlling other violations according to the system's provisions.

ZATCA explained that its supervisory and inspection teams visited a number of commercial sectors across the Kingdom in cooperation with the national program to combat commercial concealment, including restaurants, cafes, automobile accessory stores, and retail shops.

ZATCA inspects shops to ensure that they are complying with the Saudi tax regulations. Furthermore, it aims to limit commercial transactions in violation of ZATCA instructions and controls.

Authorities urged everyone to report any tax violations through the authority's website: zatca.gov.sa, or through the authority's iPhone and Android apps.

Incentives will be given to anyone who detects and reports a tax violation. They will be at a rate of 2.5% of the violations and fines' value, with a maximum of SR1 million or SR1,000 as a minimum.
