The Saudi Public Prosecution has intervened in the case of a runaway maid servant allegedly beaten by three women and a man in the Hail region. According to articles 24, 27, and 28 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Public Prosecution has instructed the concerned security agencies to complete the investigation procedures and refer the case to it.

Following publication of a newspaper report about the assault incident, the Public Prosecution intervened in the matter. According to the press report, the domestic worker ran away from her sponsor and began working illegally for another household. While working for them without a legal document, she was assaulted by three women and a man. Their actions led them to exploit the housemaid, assault her, and drive her out of the house after denying her legal rights.

According to Article 15 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law, the Public Prosecution also directed the domestic worker to be transferred to a shelter home.

In addition to emphasizing the need to adhere to the rules and laws governing employer-employee relationships, the source said assaulting or exploiting housemaids is a felony that warrants criminal accountability. According to the source, if these regulations are not followed, the worker may be exploited or commit a crime or lose her legal rights.
