The Riyadh labor court ruled in favor of 149 employees who filed complaints against the company they worked with to recover financial claims estimated at SR28 million.
The employees, who belong to 10 nationalities, filed a class action lawsuit seeking their financial rights, including delayed salaries and wages for vacation not taken, as well as end-of-service bonuses.
On April 22, the employees filed their lawsuit. For the first batch of 119 employees, the court ruled on May 12, while for the second batch of 30 employees, it ruled on May 22.
Cases of non-implementation of work contracts, wages, labor rights, compensation for work injuries, employer disciplinary actions against workers or requests to be exempt from disciplinary actions, lawsuits filed to impose penalties stipulated in the labor law, and disputes arising out of the application of the labor law and the social insurance system were among the most prominent cases reviewed by labor courts.
Consequently, the Ministry of Justice allowed parties involved in disputes to file cases electronically through the Najiz.sa portal, for all types of cases, whether labor cases subject to the Labor Law or domestic worker claims, as well as complaints of employers and workers against decisions issued by the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI), regarding subscription, registration, and compensation.
