On Friday, a Saudi nurse saved a young man from drowning in the sea in Ras Tanura, eastern Saudi Arabia.
Maryam Mahmoud Tawashi heard screams for help while relaxing at the beach with her family.
Tawashi ran to investigate and saw a young man being dragged away by the waves.
"We pulled the man to the shore and when I felt his pulse and breathing, I realized his heart had stopped. I immediately performed CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and asked another person to help with artificial breathing. I also asked someone to call the Red Crescent," she said.
She added that after almost a quarter of an hour, the man started breathing again and his heartbeat returned.
The person was placed in the recovery position after his pulse and breathing rate were restored, where the fluid stored in his lungs was released. "As soon as a Red Crescent ambulance arrived, the man was transferred to Ras Tanura General Hospital for treatment."
