The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that June 4, corresponding to the 15th of Dhul Qadah, marks the deadline for issuing permits to perform Umrah in the current season. This decision is part of the preparations to welcome Hajj pilgrims, who are expected to begin arriving in Saudi Arabia the following Sunday.
It is important to note that the Umrah visa does not authorize pilgrims to perform Hajj. Pilgrims holding Umrah visas are required to depart by June 18, which corresponds to the 20th of Dhul Qadah.
To ensure the smooth organization of Hajj 1444AH, the General Directorate of Public Security has implemented a regulation that prohibits the entry of individuals without a specific Hajj season pass into Mecca. This regulation took effect on the 25th of Shawwal. Travelers without the appropriate permits will be denied entry at the entry points leading to Mecca.
The directive states that vehicles and expatriate residents must return to their point of origin unless they possess an entry permit issued by the relevant authority for work at the holy sites. However, exemptions apply to holders of a muqeem ID (resident identity card) issued in Mecca, as well as those with an Umrah or Hajj permit.
To streamline the process and facilitate entry permits to the holy city, the General Directorate of Passports has initiated the electronic application system. This system targets domestic workers, non-Saudi family members, workers in establishments located in the holy city, seasonal work visa holders, and contractors affiliated with establishments registered in the "Ajeer" system for the Hajj season 1444 AH.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this service aims to enhance efficiency, save time, and reduce effort for beneficiaries. The "Absher Individuals" platform is specifically designed for domestic workers and non-Saudi family members, while the "Muqeem" portal provides access to entry permits for all agencies.
