The opening of the largest expansion of the Islamic Center of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on Friday took place in the capital of Cameroon.
Under the directives of King Salman, Adviser at the Royal Court Sheikh Dr. Saad Al-Shathri inaugurated the expansion in the city of Yaoundé.
Al-Shathri noted the Saudi government’s numerous charity projects aimed at serving Islam and Muslims around the world.
He said that the center played a major and pioneering role in Cameroon and neighboring countries in spreading moderation and rejecting extremism.
The ceremony concluded with a documentary tracing the Yaoundé center’s history. Established in 1997, it provides linguistic and Shariah courses to more than 700 students and includes a mosque and two institutes to educate and raise awareness among housewives. The center annually provides meals for the fasting, feeding up to 3,000 people per day.
