The Roads General Authority (RGA) has officially initiated the last phase of the Jeddah-Makkah direct road project, marking a significant milestone as over 70% of the construction is already completed.

In an announcement on our X platform account, the RGA highlights its commitment to improving travel experiences for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

The objectives of the Jeddah-Makkah direct road project are multi-fold, with a focus on enhancing road quality and services while reducing the average travel time to an impressive 35 minutes.

This development is set to streamline transportation for Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, alleviate congestion, particularly on Al-Haramain Road, and create a vital connection between King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah and Makkah.

The Jeddah-Makkah direct road spans 73 kilometers and boasts four lanes in all directions.

According to our infographic, the first phase saw 92% completion over a 7-kilometer stretch, the second phase achieved 93% completion covering 19 kilometers, and the third phase achieved a full 100% completion across 27 kilometers.

With only the fourth and final 20-kilometer phase remaining, we are edging closer to a more efficient and accessible route between Jeddah and Makkah.
